Couples Assisted Living in Northern Virginia: Stay Together at Gracewood

After decades together, many couples want one thing above all when they need more help: to stay together. That can be hard to find, because many settings are built around one person per room. Gracewood Senior Living is a spacious, brand new residential assisted living home at 1400 F Street in Woodbridge, Virginia, with 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. Couples' suite available.

We welcome couples and their families from Woodbridge, Prince William County, Fairfax County, Stafford, Alexandria, Manassas and across Northern Virginia.

Staying together when needs are different

It is common for one partner to need more help than the other. One may need support getting ready in the morning while the other mostly wants company, good meals and someone nearby. At Gracewood, both can share a suite and a daily life while each gets the help that fits them.

Two people, two plans

Each partner has their own assessment and their own written service plan. We talk with both partners and with family about routines, preferences and what has become harder at home. The plans are reviewed as needs change, so if one partner's needs shift, the other's plan does not have to.

Medication needs are reviewed during each resident's assessment.

Both partners may keep their own doctors, home health agencies and hospice providers.

Daily life for couples at Gracewood

  • A private suite to share, with room to bring familiar furniture and keepsakes.
  • Family-style meals at a shared table, together.
  • A quiet neighborhood setting in a brand new house with 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • A caring, background-checked team of CNA-certified caregivers that gets to know both of you.
  • 24-hour care with a 4:1 resident-to-caregiver ratio, so help is close by for each partner, day and night.
  • Family visits that feel like visiting home.

Why a residential home can suit couples

Couples sometimes find their days pulled in different directions by separate schedules. In a residential home, daily life stays shared. Partners can share breakfast, sit together in the living room in the afternoon, and end the day in their own suite. Family can visit both at once in a setting that feels like the home they remember, and the people helping each day come to know the couple, not just two separate residents.

Questions couples and families often ask

When you visit any home in Northern Virginia, it helps to ask:

  1. Is there a suite designed for two people, and can we see it?
  2. Does each partner get their own assessment and service plan?
  3. What happens if one partner's needs change?
  4. Can we keep our current doctors and providers?
  5. How is the cost for a couple explained, and will we get it in writing?

Cost for couples

Every couple is different, so we do not post prices online. We quote after a care look, in writing, on the tour, with both partners' needs considered.

Planning ahead

Many couples start this conversation before they need to move, which gives everyone time to think it through. Openings are limited; we keep a priority list.
